On March 15, the China Cotton Association held the 9th meeting of the 4th council of the China Cotton Association and the National Cotton Situation Analysis Conference in Xuchang, Henan. The meeting was hosted by Henan Tongzhou Cotton Industry Co., Ltd., a vice-president unit. More than 100 representatives from the member units of the China Cotton Association and relevant departments such as the Department of Commerce of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Department of Consumer Goods of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Center for Agricultural Economic Research of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Grain, Oil and Cotton Department of the Agricultural Development Bank of China, and the China Cotton Textile Industry Association attended the meeting.
 
Wei Gangmin, chairman of Tongzhou Cotton, vice president of the China Cotton Association, and rotating chairman of the China Cotton Association Council in 2023, presided over the meeting. The meeting voted to approve Zhao Yinglong, secretary of the Party committee and chairman of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Cotton and Flax Co., Ltd., and president of the Corps Cotton Association, as the rotating chairman for 2024. The meeting also deliberated and voted on the work report of the 9th meeting of the 4th council, the 2023 financial report, and the report on changes to the heads of the association's branches, and reported on the participation of member units in the activities of the China Cotton Association in 2023.
 
The participants gave themed reports on "Domestic macroeconomic situation and observation of bulk commodity markets", "Analysis of cotton market supply and demand in 2024", and "Application of futures and options tools in the management of cotton textile enterprises"; The meeting summarized the new cotton acquisition situation in 2023, analyzed the domestic and international cotton and textile production, purchase and sales situation, discussed the cotton planting in 2024 and the future market development trend, and the representatives put forward relevant policy suggestions.
 
Finally, Gao Fang, president of the China Cotton Association, made a summary speech. She said that the current environment is full of uncertainties. Under this situation, the cotton industry should not only pay attention to cotton, but also other fibers; not only pay attention to cotton circulation, but also the whole industry; not only pay attention to the industry, but also the overall macroeconomic situation. She hoped that everyone would maintain a steady and down-to-earth mentality during this period of economic adjustment.

In February, the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for manufacturing stood at 50.2%, up 1.1 percentage points from the previous month, indicating a significant improvement in the manufacturing sector.

In 2024, China's dyeing industry saw rapid export growth to ASEAN and RCEP member countries, exceeding the overall export growth rate. However, this growth was accompanied by a decline in prices. From January to December, China's exports of eight major dyeing products to ASEAN totaled 7.908 billion meters, a year-on-year increase of 12.14%, 4.61 percentage points higher than the overall export growth rate, accounting for 23.58% of total exports. The average export price was US\$1.19 per meter, a year-on-year decrease of 2.75%, 0.64 percentage points lower than the overall decline. Exports to RCEP member countries totaled 8.431 billion meters, a year-on-year increase of 11.35%, 3.82 percentage points higher than the overall export growth rate. The average export price was US\$1.17 per meter, a year-on-year decrease of 2.79%, 0.60 percentage points lower than the overall decline.
