Insufficient domestic and foreign demand for home textiles in China in 2022

In 2022, both domestic and international demand for home textiles decreased to varying degrees. From the perspective of domestic sales, from January to October 2022, the total retail sales of consumer goods in China reached 36.06 trillion yuan, a slight increase of 0.6% year-on-year. Among them, the cumulative consumption of clothing, shoes, hats, and textiles amounted to 115.5 billion yuan, a decrease of 4.4% year-on-year. From the perspective of foreign sales, from January to September, China's exports of home textile products reached US$35.082 billion, a slight increase of 0.99% year-on-year, with the growth rate slowing down. Among them, China's home textile exports to the US and EU markets were US$7.987 billion and US$4.616 billion respectively, down 11.12% and 7.6% year-on-year. This shows that the vitality of both the domestic and foreign markets for home textiles is insufficient, and it is difficult to boost demand for home textiles.
