China's exports of T-shirts and sweatshirts saw significant growth from January to September 2024.


In terms of subcategories, exports of four product categories, including T-shirts and sweatshirts, showed significant growth. From January to September, exports of T-shirts and sweatshirts reached US\$85.29 billion, a year-on-year increase of 24.99%. Exports to Kazakhstan reached US\$1.065 billion, a significant year-on-year increase of 504.57%, with an increase of US\$889 million, accounting for 52.12% of the total increase in this category; exports of underwear and home wear (excluding bras) reached US\$77.62 billion, a year-on-year increase of 6.79%; shirt exports reached US\$1.364 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.43%; and warp-knitted fabric exports reached US\$1.027 billion, a year-on-year increase of 8.87%.

According to customs data from various regions, key areas along the eastern coast, such as Zhejiang and Jiangsu, maintained robust growth. From January to September, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Guangdong, the top three regions by export volume, achieved exports of US\$25.462 billion, US\$11.043 billion, and US\$10.974 billion, respectively. Among them, Zhejiang and Jiangsu saw export growth of 7.17% and 8.84%, respectively. In addition, Xinjiang and Shanghai also achieved good growth, with growth rates of 32.96% and 7.2%, significantly higher than the average. With the continued release of the effects of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the results of the first anniversary of the Xinjiang Free Trade Zone construction are significant, and the positive impact of entrepot trade further boosted Xinjiang's export volume and year-on-year growth rate.

1) This week's National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (NPC & CPPCC) in China boosted market expectations for steady growth. In February, the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for manufacturing stood at 50.2%, up 1.1 percentage points from the previous month, indicating a significant improvement in the manufacturing sector.


In 2024, China's exports of dyed and printed fabrics to Vietnam and Bangladesh increased significantly.


In 2024, China's dyeing industry saw rapid export growth to ASEAN and RCEP member countries, exceeding the overall export growth rate. However, this growth was accompanied by a decline in prices. From January to December, China's exports of eight major dyeing products to ASEAN totaled 7.908 billion meters, a year-on-year increase of 12.14%, 4.61 percentage points higher than the overall export growth rate, accounting for 23.58% of total exports. The average export price was US\$1.19 per meter, a year-on-year decrease of 2.75%, 0.64 percentage points lower than the overall decline. Exports to RCEP member countries totaled 8.431 billion meters, a year-on-year increase of 11.35%, 3.82 percentage points higher than the overall export growth rate. The average export price was US\$1.17 per meter, a year-on-year decrease of 2.79%, 0.60 percentage points lower than the overall decline.
