Industrial sewing machine exports in November 2022 decreased year-on-year


According to the General Administration of Customs, from January to November 2022, China's cumulative export value of sewing machinery products reached US\$3.185 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12.11%, with the growth rate further narrowing compared to the previous month. Among them, the export volume of industrial sewing machines reached 4.65 million units, with an export value of US\$1.649 billion, remaining at a high level for the same period, with year-on-year increases of 7.53% and 19.07% respectively. The export volume of embroidery machines reached 54,000 units, with an export value of US\$463 million, with year-on-year increases of 52.37% and 47.15% respectively.
Among them, overseas markets such as the United States and Japan saw a continued and significant decline in demand for household sewing machines, with year-on-year decreases of 38.00% and 34.92% in export volume and value respectively from January to November. In November, China's export of sewing machinery products reached US\$267 million, down 15.19% year-on-year but up 3.76% month-on-month. Among them, the export volume of industrial sewing machines was 396,000 units, with an export value of US\$124 million, down 13.00% and 25.31% year-on-year respectively, but up 14.85% and 5.94% month-on-month respectively. The export volume and value of industrial sewing machines in the industry showed a significant decline compared to the second and third quarters.

In 2024, China's dyeing industry saw rapid export growth to ASEAN and RCEP member countries, exceeding the overall export growth rate. However, this growth was accompanied by a decline in prices. From January to December, China's exports of eight major dyeing products to ASEAN totaled 7.908 billion meters, a year-on-year increase of 12.14%, 4.61 percentage points higher than the overall export growth rate, accounting for 23.58% of total exports. The average export price was US\$1.19 per meter, a year-on-year decrease of 2.75%, 0.64 percentage points lower than the overall decline. Exports to RCEP member countries totaled 8.431 billion meters, a year-on-year increase of 11.35%, 3.82 percentage points higher than the overall export growth rate. The average export price was US\$1.17 per meter, a year-on-year decrease of 2.79%, 0.60 percentage points lower than the overall decline.
