At the 2017 International Cotton Conference held on June 9th, Wei Gangmin, chairman of Henan Tongzhou Cotton Industry Co., Ltd., accepted a special interview from the China Supply and Marketing Cooperative Network reporter on the topic of "Open Innovation, Reshaping the Future of the Cotton Industry."
Wei Gangmin believes that the future of the cotton industry involves two aspects: the future of the industry itself and the future of the people in the industry. Looking back on over 30 years in the cotton industry, with the development of the times and the acceleration of globalization, competition in the domestic market is becoming increasingly fierce. Only competition can promote better development for the industry, enterprises, and individuals. In this competition, talent is key. In addition to passing on a good corporate culture, continuous learning and keeping up with the times are crucial.
The development of trading methods ultimately comes down to how to effectively connect the upstream and downstream sectors, provide valuable services, and achieve one's own development. Vertically, the supply and demand relationship between the upstream and downstream sectors of the industry chain affects prices, which are adjusted through inventory management. Horizontally, global balance and the ebb and flow between domestic and international industries are an unchanging truth.
How can cotton traders survive in this fiercely competitive environment? Following market rules, industrial integration is the general direction. Different companies make full use of their respective advantages to merge. Small and large enterprises, domestic and foreign enterprises, will find it increasingly difficult to survive alone in the future. Through integration and stable development, consolidating human resources, capital, and market resources to provide effective services to consumers is the way forward.
